Who is your Combat Magician?

Uhmmm...Doctor Strange? Well, you could....he is after all, the Sorcerer Supreme in the Mavel Universe...but, over at Avatar Press, nobody kicks ass better than Gravel, William Gravel - SAS (Elite British Special Forces),occult specialist, combat magician and general bad-ass to the uhmm...bloody, demonically macabre creatures that lurks in the netherworlds of other planes of existence (yup) and also in your kitchen (just kidding! :). I first got introduced to Gravel's character in the "Strange" series created by (who else?)by Warren Ellis and Mike Wolfer which I featured in my earlier blog, along with Black Summer. Needless to say, the stories as well as the art was both bloody and intense. Nothing like a mixture of voodoo magic and MIB (Men in Black)type of action. In this 8-issue series, simply titled Gravel, our combat magician's "history" or origins if you will is slowly revisited...as well as the unfolding of his future:
