Squadron Supreme Saga by J Michael Straczynski coming up this weekend!
Think of this as a "re-imagination" of DC universe's most popular heroes such as the Flash (Blur), Wonder Woman (Zarda aka Power Princess), Green Lantern (Dr.Spectrum?), Hyperion (Superman) and last but not least, Batman (Nighthawk) (as Stan Lee did before! i think) for the Marvel U, splendidly done this time by J Michael Straczynski (Rising Power, Midnight Nation, Spidey's The Other arc etc. & currently Thor v3) for MAX (Marvel's Mature line) . Anyways, these super-powered beings known as "Supremes" (not the 70's version ;-)compose primarily the Squadron Supreme along with a few others that escapes me at the moment...who to compare with...let's just say the Squadron Supreme is really a hodge-podge of DCU and MU characters both in it's "heroes and its villains" (which come to think of it resembles not the DC's JLA, but more like the Ultimates except a lot more powerful and a bit more "sinister") You simply cannot really tell who are the heroes and villains....which I think makes Squadron Supreme quite a great read, not only for its "moral ambiguities" but as well as its "socio-political commentaries". Over-all, I highly recommend this JMS compilation!
